Introducing Robyn, our latest addition to the Impel Talent team, taking on the role of Assistant to Founders. With a diverse and dynamic professional background, she brings a unique journey that has shaped her into a valuable asset for our company.

Robyn’s educational path initially led her to the beauty industry, but a realisation that her true passion lay elsewhere prompted her to pursue Business Administration at CTI Education through the London School of Business and Management. Graduating with a solid foundation, she ventured into various sectors, gaining experience in retail, immigration, and ultimately finding her stride in the challenging and rewarding space of sales recruitment. It was here that she experienced the most significant personal and professional growth, discovering a love for recruitment and collaborative endeavors.

After several years in sales recruitment, Robyn strategically transitioned to internal Talent Acquisition within a major retail company, focusing on innovation until 2023. Taking a hiatus at the beginning of this year, she delved into freelancing in Virtual Admin, taking the time to recharge and regroup. Now, Robyn has returned to the professional arena, ready to take on new challenges and contribute her wealth of experience to Impel Talent.

We chatted with Robyn, asking her several questions to understand the compelling factors that brought her to be a cherished member of the Impel Talent team.

Why did you join Impel Talent?

Joining Impel Talent was a natural fit for me as I strongly resonated with the “I” values, which align closely with my own personal principles. The company’s emphasis on fostering authentic human connections deeply aligns with my passion for building genuine relationships with people.”

What do you love about your role?

“I love my role because of its dynamic nature. With my diverse responsibilities, I have the opportunity to connect and collaborate with every member of the team while simultaneously working on various projects. This keeps me constantly engaged, learning, and involved in exciting endeavours.

How did you get into rectuitment?

I stumbled into recruitment unexpectedly. In 2019, I accepted a contract role in sales recruitment, and it didn’t take long for me to realise my passion for the industry. Fortunately, the role transitioned into a permanent position, and I have been in Recruitment and Talent Acquisition ever since.

What are you passionate about?

My passion revolves around working with people. It is that straightforward — I enjoy connecting and collaborating with others. It’s a space that truly makes me happy.

What is one piece of advice you wish you could tell yourself 10 years ago?

Be patient with yourself, set boundaries and embrace the idea that changing your direction is perfectly ok.

What do you do to relax and unwind outside of work?

In my free time, I enjoy taking my dog, Oreo, on beach walks, spending time with my family, and exploring one of the many vineyards, hiking trails, and restaurants that Cape Town has to offer.”
