Technical Buyer

Located in the South of the Netherlands, our client is a manufacturer of space industry propulsion and mobility products boasting a strong expertise in building a wide range of propulsion systems.

Our client’s solutions are trusted by numerous government and commercial spacecraft customers across various sectors such as earth imaging, telecom and science missions.

With a dedication to advancing their offerings, we are currently looking for a Technical Buyer to support a series of production and project-oriented activities.

Your role:

As the Technical Buyer, you will oversee all primary processes related to production and facility needs of Purchasing & Procurement and Inventory Management. You will primarily support the following areas:

  • Procurement and negotiation of contracts with suppliers.
  • Prioritization of tasks to achieve objectives efficiently.
  • Ensuring selected suppliers have the necessary capabilities to meet project objectives.
  • Holding both internal customers and external suppliers accountable for adherence to requirements, planning, cost, and quality standards.
  • Suggesting optimal utilization (optimization) of unused stock in monthly stock plans.

This role encompasses a diverse range of tasks, including operational, administrative, commercial, business, and analytical functions. Responsibilities involve calculating qualitative and quantitative project needs, providing support to project administration, and evaluating production or program performance through factual analysis. Support activities may extend to series production and project-oriented tasks at supplier sites. Monthly budgetary results are reported monthly to the Site Director and Operations Office Manager.

Key tasks & responsibilities:

  • Overseeing an efficient purchasing and procurement process, including:
    • Purchasing:
      • Supporting the Risk Management Process for supplier selection.
      • Recording needs and proposing acquisition strategies.
      • Sending RFQs to suppliers.
      • Evaluating supplier responses and negotiating with selected ones.
      • Preparing and sending POs/Contracts.
      • Managing logistics.
    • Procurement:
      • Managing supplier deliverables per PO/Contract until acceptance of delivered goods.
      • Assessing supplier performance.
      • Evaluating Purchasing & Procurement performance.
  • Developing and maintaining strong, long-term supplier relationships.
  • Taking responsibility for lead times, Long Term Agreements with Suppliers, (new) supplier selection and rating, and developing a strategy for second source suppliers.
  • Managing inventory, including:
    • Leading the Warehouse team.
    • Managing Company and Project stocks.
    • Executing Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) plans.
    • Creating monthly stock plans.
    • Managing Critical items (due date related).
    • Overseeing the refurbishment of articles with expiration dates without impacting the Company.

     

    Required Skills:

    • Attention to detail.
    • Proficiency in Dutch (mandatory).
    • Proficiency in English (B2 level).
    • Mechanical background and the ability to interpret technical drawings.
    • Experience working with an ERP system utilizing MRP functionalities.
    • Strong communication skills.
    • Proficiency in MS Office.
    • Structured and efficient work approach with flexibility.

     

    Desirable Skills:

    • Experience in procuring mechanical parts.
    • Experience in procuring high-level electronic components.
    • Possession of a driving license and willingness to travel occasionally.
