Located in the South of the Netherlands, our client is a manufacturer of space industry propulsion and mobility products boasting a strong expertise in building a wide range of propulsion systems.

Our client’s solutions are trusted by numerous government and commercial spacecraft customers across various sectors such as earth imaging, telecom and science missions.

With a dedication to advancing their offerings, we are currently looking for a System Engineer to contribute to the technical development of products.

Your Role:

As the System Engineer, you will be overseeing the technical development of the products, ensuring alignment with customer requirements throughout the design, analysis, testing, verification, and qualification processes. Integral to the Core Team, you will collaborate closely with the Program Manager, Product Owner, and Product Assurance Engineer, being the primary point of contact for all technical matters. In the initial stages, you are responsible for conducting Technical Trade-Offs and comprehending customer requirements. Throughout the development phase, you collaborate with the design and factory engineering departments (CAD, Structural, Thermal, and Electrical) to ensure meticulous execution of the design. This involves conducting functional and system engineering analyses. During procurement and assembly phases, you will provide support for potential design modifications and non-conformities. Finally, during the testing phase, you are responsible for drafting comprehensive test plans and procedures to verify equipment and meet customer requirements.

Key responsibilities:

  • Evaluate Customer Documents and Make Design Decisions.
  • Maintain the project schedule and associated budget.
  • Conduct functional analysis and contribute to system development tasks.
  • Review Mechanical, Structural, and Electronics Designs.
  • Generate documentation for various project reviews (such as EQSR, PDR, CDR, TRR, TRB), including User Manuals, Qualification Status lists, Compliance Matrices, Verification Control Documents, Functional analyses, assembly and test procedures, and test reports.
  • Provide technical support to the supply chain and production departments.
  • Develop test procedures and coordinate testing activities with the Test Department.
  • Offer technical assistance to Production during project test phases.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in a System and/or Expert Engineering capacity within a high-technology, multidisciplinary industry or similar environment.
  • BSc or MSc level in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Proficiency in the following areas is essential:
    • Space components & systems.
    • Mechanical Engineering (including Structural and Thermal knowledge).
    • Assembly Integration and Test Engineering.
  • Strong analytical and communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in (technical) English

Desired Skills:

  • Previous experience in the spaceflight industry, preferably working with satellite equipment/technology.
  • Familiarity with ECSS and Space Design Process Flow (including EQSR, PDR, CDR, MRR, TRR, TRB, DRB).
  • Knowledge of current technology trends and market dynamics related to spaceflight components.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Dutch at a B1 level.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and a willingness to occasional travel
