Land Acquisition Manager

Location: Netherlands

Our client is a leading Renewable Energy Project Developer and Power Producer that is active across the lifecycle of large-scale ground-mounted solar power generation, including land acquisition, development, financing, construction, power sales and asset operations. They are active in Germany, the Netherlands and the UK, with a total pipeline of over 7GWp.

 

The Land Acquisition Manager works as part of the small and agile development team to identify and contract land positions for development of renewable energy projects. across the Netherlands.

 

Job Description:

  • (Independently) Identify and secure land options and all associated wayleaves for the purpose of utility scale solar and battery storage development.
  • Develop & maintain a network of relationships with authorities, agencies, municipalities, associations, landowners & local partners for land search (land brokers).
  • Work with internal policy analysts to identify and address potential land positions and respective landowners.
  • Conduct preliminary analysis of the identified land (environmental, urban planning, legalisation) and study of area planning & local regulations.
  • Negotiate land lease or purchase options and secure signed option agreements with landowners.
  • Work with the investment and technical teams to understand the commercial terms that you can offer to landowners while maintaining an economically viable project.
  • Work with the internal legal team to set up required land lease and/or purchase option agreements.
  • Negotiate wayleaves with landowners and their representatives as required.
  • Support public information days and statutory consultation events as required.
  • As required, manage, coordinate and engage with all internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to the Tech Team, Finance Team, DNOs, private wire off-takers, planning authorities, professional services providers, lawyers, landowners and land agents

Requirements:

  • Previous work experience in a similar position. Negotiating rural land for other purposes is an advantage.
  • A good client-facing presence and be able to communicate technical information clearly and simply.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and commercial skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
  • Exceptional communication skills and fluency in Dutch both oral and written. Good use of English.
  • Positive and energetic disposition, proactiveness and resilience
  • Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel on a regular basis across the country.
  • Highly organised with IT literacy and familiarity with Microsoft applications including Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, in addition to GIS mapping tools such as Google Earth.
