Are you a visionary propulsion expert with a passion for pushing the boundaries of space? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment where your contributions directly shape the future of reusable spacecraft?

A rapidly growing company is developing a modular and reusable orbital vehicle set to revolutionize space travel. We’re seeking an exceptional Lead Storable Propulsion Engineer / Manager to join our dynamic team and drive the development and strategic procurement of critical propulsion units. This is your chance to blend deep technical expertise with impactful leadership and supplier management, playing a pivotal role in ensuring our vehicle meets ambitious performance, schedule, and cost objectives.

This role requires a unique blend of engineering prowess, strategic thinking, and a “startup mentality” – a willingness to dive in, move fast, and make a tangible impact. You will be instrumental in building the foundations for our ambitious 2026 growth plans and beyond, tackling complex challenges with a dedicated and passionate team.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the make/buy strategy for propulsion units, defining and executing roadmaps for in-house development.

  • Drive the design, qualification, and delivery of essential propulsion units (tanks, valves) from concept to flight readiness, embracing agile development methodologies.

  • Oversee the procurement strategy, including supplier identification, selection, contract negotiation, and performance management.

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of propulsion engineers, fostering their skills and capabilities.

  • Collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams (avionics, GNC, MAIT, systems engineering) to ensure flawless integration and testing.

  • Manage project schedules, resources, and budgets, mitigating risks and driving continuous improvement.

  • Stay at the forefront of propulsion technologies, championing innovation within the team.

What we’re looking for:

  • Minimum Master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or a related engineering discipline.

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in storable propulsion systems engineering, development, and procurement within aerospace or spaceflight.

  • Proven expertise in developing propulsion components like tanks, thrusters, and valves.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage suppliers, contracts, and delivery timelines.

  • Experience leading technical projects or small engineering teams.

  • Strong understanding of aerospace materials, manufacturing, and testing practices.

  • Ideally, experience in New Space companies or fast-paced development environments.

  • Familiarity with propulsion test operations, data analysis, and ECSS or NASA equivalent aerospace standards.

  • Fluency in English.

  • A “startup mentality” – you’re ready to embrace aggressive timelines, high expectations, and a demanding yet incredibly rewarding work environment. You thrive on volume, speed, and the challenge of building something truly extraordinary.
